A World In Turmoil - Why does it have to be so difficult?
INTRODUCTION:
Greetings to all, and thank you to those that sent me emails expressing how much they enjoyed last week's video blog post. No, I am not an expert on everything. However, I know how to do my research and determine fact or fiction for myself. The sad truth is, with the sides the news networks take, we own it to ourselves to be informed.
Tonight's topic came from questions I received from my video blog post. I thought it was a good idea to discuss the state of our world and its people and show that things do not have to be complicated. But first, we need to understand a few things.
HUMAN NATURE:
A couple of blog posts back, I discussed the difference between human nature and the human condition. In a quick review, human nature is humankind's general psychological characteristics, feelings, and behavioral traits, regarded as shared by all humans. In comparison, the human condition is all of the characteristics and key events that compose the essentials of human existence, including birth, growth, emotion, aspiration, conflict, and mortality. This is a very broad topic that has been and continues to be pondered and analyzed from many perspectives, including anthropology, art, biology, history, literature, philosophy, psychology, and religion. Part of being a person. Both courtesy of Wikipedia.
For ease of understanding, look at it this way. Human nature is a part, and the human condition is the sum of all parts. With that said, how does this relate to the world's turmoil? We have specific characteristics that "in general," we all share as people. A few of those are:
We want more than we need,
We want to be right,
Most people are tunnel-visioned; they only see their viewpoint,
Everyone has something to say,
Everyone wants to be heard.
These are just a few of the many human characteristics we all share. However, for this post, they are paramount. In addition, keep in mind that because these are human characteristics, many world leaders will run their countries the same way. Russia is a perfect example. Putin wants Ukraine. For him, it is principal. However, he does not need Ukraine. These concepts apply to every nation. I believe Biden wished to reverse the previous administration's policies out of spite. He didn't need to, or at least not every policy.
Being spiteful is a human characteristic, and many will do whatever it takes to be spiteful. Regardless of the cost or harm, it does to others. When any society buries its heads in the sand, it adds insult to injury until much of the damage is done, or some in society decide to keep their heads there.
That's just the beginning of this cake mix. When we add poor and biased news reporting along with social media censorship, the cake doesn't rise when we bake it; it falls. Hence, we have a world in turmoil and people in chaos.
It is estimated that 240 million people were eligible to vote in the 2020 presidential election. But unfortunately, roughly only 66.1 of them voted. That is a little more than half of the eligible voters in this country. That is sad. Yet, I would bet that 240 million people would complain.
As the photo reveals, your butt is left stuck out in the air when you have your head in the sand. If it's out there long enough, it will get kicked.
HOW MUCH CAN PEOPLE TAKE?:
Now there is an interesting question. Crime, inflation, food, gas, interest rates, and more, are all on the rise. Major banks are predicting a recession. The stock market has been taking tremendous hits downward and more. The three major powers in the world are at each other's throats. Your hard-earned money doesn't go as far as it used to. The rubber band is being stretched to its breaking point. But, you all know all of this, and it will probably worsen before it gets better. The housing market went off the wall with the prices of houses. History has taught us because this has happened before, that those who paid "through the nose" for their home stand an excellent chance to have a house that is worth far less money than what they paid for it when all of this crashes down upon us. Credit card debt is at an all-time high. Does this sound like a world in turmoil? I would say so. It is not limited to the United States. These principles and situations are global.
However, the old story remains the same. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. When you have the capital to invest and play the market during its ups and downs, make the proper investments, etc., it is an easy game to play. The ones stuck in the middle are the middle class. They lose all the time.
There is nothing wrong with wanting more and having more. However, it should never come at the price of causing harm in any way to others. That will never be morally right.
WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO DIFFICULT?:
The fact is it does not have to be. I am all for opposing opinions and viewpoints. When approached correctly, these are healthy traits because they will lead to a more progressive society when discussed constructively. However, things are taken to extremes. Hence, the birth of the far left and far right. This will never lead to constructive communications because reasonable minds are NOT controlling the narrative. This results in bullying and harm being caused to many domestically and globally.
As a global society, have we not progressed past the stage of the warrior in this picture? The first step is being happy with what you have and not causing harm to others to achieve more. From a global standpoint, world leaders should be working together to make their countries prosper and make the world a better place for all. Each country has something to offer society. Whether it be culture, oil, food, or technology, people should be going hungry and homeless in this modern day. Slave labor should not exist, and the war on drugs should be the war that every country wages versus a war against one another. Unfortunately, these are issues that plague every country. Putin's threats to use chemical warfare or nuclear weapons lead to nothing good. The outcome can and never will be positive. Does he think for one moment he will do this without any response from the rest of the world, and he will be left as the ruler of the world?
Of course, that will never be the case. He and his country will suffer the same if not more destruction as the destruction he causes. I believe he knows this, and his threats have no merit. If I send my bomb to your house knowing you will send your bomb to mine, why would either party do this knowing the outcome?
IN CLOSING:
To fix this is not difficult. It only takes level-headed people with the same global goals to stop this and make their own countries better for their citizens and prosper. This is the narrative that we as a society need to impress upon our leaders. The people we vote for. The world is in turmoil. The United States is in turmoil. However, I blame the people, not the President. He has other issues. He told everyone right up front while campaigning what he would do, and people put him in this position to do just that. Do not let that statement confuse you because he made other campaign promises he has not kept. Hence, his other issues.
Voting is a choice. Who you vote for is your choice. One I fully respect. But when the bear tells you he will bite you if you let him out of the cage and open the door to the cage, can you complain when you get bitten? Yet, people are human and always look to the bright side and hope for the best. If you are not happy, your first step will be to vote in the mid-terms in November and get change underway. 2024 will be your next opportunity to institute change.
W elected our leaders based on their promises, education, experience, wisdom, and other personal reasons. First, however, ask yourself these two questions:
Why do we always have to destroy something before we can rebuild it?
Why, with all the education and knowledge our leaders have, why they can't get things right and communicate together correctly?
The answer to both questions is how I started this post. HUMAN NATURE, and The HUMAN CONDITION. Can these traits be changed? Can the world look a little bit past itself and view it globally as a whole, for the benefit of all. Without the threats of war, without harming others, and concentrating on progress and prosperity.
I would like to believe this is possible. But will I see it in my lifetime? Probably not, because history has taught us time and time again that we must hit bottom to work our way back towards the top. This is the one single most fault in human behavior. However, the one human trait we all share is HOPE. God bless you all, and God Bless America.
Stay safe, be happy, and be well,
Caesar Rondina
